Gemma Ward to Quit Modeling

Australian model Gemma Ward has decided to officially quit modeling. She took a brief retirement after the Spring 2008 shows in late 2007 in which she was heavily criticized for her weight gain. After that she lost her good friend Heath Ledger and took a complete break. This past week she was photographed on the streets of New York (pictured above) sporting a few more pounds. The negative criticism has sparked her to totally quit the modeling game. This is sad, I'm not sure what was happening when she was younger and very skinny but I can only assume it wasn't natural. This girl is 22 and is a delightful person from what I have seen in interviews. She is 22! People's bodies change. But to play devil's advocate, she knew what it took to be a model when she started.
