Top Ten of Fall 2010-2011

Karl Lagerfeld's work at Fendi is really touch and go with me. I either love it, or I don't. This season, I am all about what he is doing. With his creative use of fur and draping of fabrics to create a new silhouette is what really sold me on this collection. The way that he used retro references (such as the hair, and some of the shapes) and made them seem like they were completely new (such as taking a cocoon jacket and lining it with goat hair) is something that very few can actually do. He made patchwork fur coats actually look expensive rather than something only a hooker stuck in the 70's would wear. Also the rich colors he used such as fatigue green, mustard yellow, and the rich browns of the furs made this collection seem very warm. Of course there are the dresses at the end. Peek-a-boo dresses made of draped organza that are sure to get just as much play in the real world as they are on the glossy pages.
Also the accessories this season were something new and different as well. The shoes were like high fashion wellies, rubber toes and all. He managed to take that style of boot and turn it into a cool heel covered in satin. The bags, of course, are to die for. Look for someone notable to be rocking the structured yellow leather bag with leopard lining.
