Many models are very lean and athletic looking. However, to much surprise, many of them were aspiring professional athletes.

Trained to be a professional soccer player. She was discovered on the train on her way to a training camp.
Erin Wasson
Trained all through high school to become a WNBA basketball player.
Karmen Pedaru
Was the goalie of the Estonian National Soccer Team until she quit to try her hand at modeling.
