What They Should Wear

The 82nd Annual Academy Awards

Diane Kruger
Diane is a Chanel girl through and through. She also loves white. And, she has never been afraid of sequins or making a statement. These elements all point to this dress from the spring couture collection.

Sandra Bullock
This is her night, she knows it and we know it. She has also taken some major hits from critics on her previous choices so I wouldn't doubt that she would play it safe in a really elegant way like with this painstakingly detailed Elie Saab Couture gown.

Kate Hudson
Kate is a presenter this year. So she really isn't allowed to be over the top. Also her love of clean lines and body-con fits are prefect for this Gucci dress.

Penelope Cruz
I don't know why I bother with her anymore. She will never wear color on the red carpet. It's black and white for her. But this Andrew Gn dress would look stunning with her coloring and complexion.

Julianne Moore
I want so badly to see Julianne in green. I am obsessed with red heads in green. This Yves Saint Laurent dress is just the right amount of edgy for her. I would want it to be modified into a gown version though.

Marion Cotillard
Marion Cotillard is all about drama and Dior. This Dior Couture dress does just both those things.

Kate Winslet
Kate isn't a "fashion girl" she generally plays it safe. In Hollywood playing it safe means Armani. She loves to show her curves and this Armani Privé dress would do just that.

Maggie Gyllenhal
If anyone is going to go all out high fashion it's going to be Maggie. This Valentino Couture dress is edgy and beautiful just like Maggie herself. It's not obviously beautiful which is something Maggie usually goes for.

Zoë Saldana
Zoë has been wearing more and more Giambattista Valli, so this pre-fall dress (with a modified hem to make it into a gown) is perfect for her. She is generally risky in her choices yet this is her first Oscars so she is going to want to play it safe.

Carey Mulligan
Carey has emerged as 2010's fashion it girl. She is tearing up the red carpet with her unorthodox dresses and Mia Farrow haircut. One of her two main designer favorites is Nina Ricci (the other is Prada). This pre-fall dress is just the right amount of high fashion and class for this young star on the rise.

Nicole Kidman
Nicole Kidman seems to be going with Alaïa these days, however I think this Halston dress would look amazing on her. It would show off her newly red hair and her height and stature would pull it off amazingly.
